We all know the struggle of dragging ourselves to attend 8am class. If you have classes during exam season……totally a nightmare! To keep yourself energetic, why not have a coffee break at Humber College? The Humber Spots team is happy to share our top 3 coffee shops list with all you guys!
No. 1: Gourmet Express

“I can only grab a coffee at a fast food shop with my $3 on hand.” Nah! You can definitely get high-quality organic coffee at the college! Gourmet Express provides more than five types of coffee, all sources from fair-trade origins.
The shop is self-service. Pick from S, M or L sizes and then go ahead to get your coffee. Middle roasted, Deep roasted, vanilla, hazelnut……, there are labels stating each coffee’s characteristics. Just choose your favorite one following the guidelines. When coffee is out of stock, don’t hesitate to ask friendly staff for a refill! After filling up your cup, add milk, cream or almond milk freely and tailor-made your own coffee. The coffees taste good even if you add nothing! French Vanilla will be our recommendation (we know taste is subjective lol).
If you want to enjoy best-value sustainable coffee, Gourmet Express is a good option. Remember to ask the staff for a stamp card. You will get one stamp with every single purchase. A free coffee will be given when you receive a specific number of stamps. The good news is all sizes are included as free coffee!
Location
North Campus, Room E115
Opening Hours
Monday to Thursday: 7am – 4pm
Friday: 7am – 3pm
No. 2: JJ Mart

JJ Mart is a family-owned convenience store. Many students may not know of its existence, as it is located on the main floor of the parking garage near the residence. You will seldom go there unless you live in the dorms.
The store provides self-service hot coffee and also diverse international foods and snacks, especially those from Asia. It is so convenient to get Filipino Skyflakes crackers, Japanese ramen and Korean ice-cream at one spot. It is an opportunity for international students to taste flavors from home. We highly recommend going to the Humber Arboretum nearby after your purchase. It’s chill to enjoy a coffee break there!
Location
Parking garage main floor
Opening Hours
Monday to Friday: 11am – 10pm

No. 3: Starbucks

Starbucks? Yes, Starbucks! We know it’s a bit on the pricey side, but it really has a good location: close to the main entrance of Humber College. That means it’s easy to access. You can go straight to grab a coffee once you enter the school! Apart from the regular beverages, Starbucks also offers a seasonal menu. Try different flavors according to your mood! There are seating areas with floor-to-ceiling windows. Let’s have a coffee break in the sunshine!
Location
LRC 1001
Opening Hours
Monday to Thursday: 7:30am – 5pm
Friday: 7:30am – 4pm
Humber College also has other spots for a coffee break, such as Cafe Linx and GH Cafe. They have different vibes and are definitely worth a try. However, some coffee shops may be closed during the summer semester. You can check the opening hours on “Dine On Campus at Humber College” beforehand.
